The alternative, for those who'd rather not deal with a separate account, remittance paperwork, and US tax withholding on dividends, is the Indian mutual funds covered on the US-Focused Indian Funds page, which hold many of the same companies through a single INR-denominated fund unit.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the INR value change even when the USD price doesn't?
Because the INR column is recalculated using the live USD/INR exchange rate, which moves independently of the stock price. A stock can be flat in dollars and still show a different rupee value from one refresh to the next.
Is this data delayed?
Prices refresh automatically and are sourced live, but as the on-page disclaimer notes, quotes may carry a short delay and should be treated as informational rather than a real-time trading feed or investment advice.
Do dividends from US stocks get taxed differently for Indian investors?
Yes -- US-source dividends are subject to US withholding tax before you receive them, and the net amount is also taxable in India as income from other sources, though the India-US tax treaty (DTAA) allows a credit for the US tax already withheld in most cases.
