How the Top Performers List Is Built
Rather than searching one category at a time, this page scans all 34 SEBI fund categories and surfaces the funds with the strongest returns for your selected period, computed as CAGR from real NAV history rather than a fund house's own marketing figures. Where a pre-built daily cache is available, the page loads instantly; if the cache is unavailable (for example immediately after a fresh deployment before the refresh job has run), it falls back to live calls across all categories, pooling a large sample of funds and computing returns on the fly.
A high rank on any single period should be read with some caution -- a fund that tops the 1-year list may simply have benefited from a strong run in one particular sector or style that is unlikely to repeat, while a fund that ranks well across 1, 3, 5, and 10-year periods simultaneously has demonstrated it can perform through more than one market cycle, which is generally the stronger signal.
Frequently asked questions
Does a fund's past performance rank guarantee future returns?
No -- this is one of the most important caveats in investing. Past performance, even over long periods, is not a guarantee of how a fund will perform going forward; market conditions, fund manager changes, and category-wide shifts can all change the picture.
Why might the same fund rank differently across periods?
Its return contribution isn't evenly spread over time -- a fund might have had one exceptionally strong year that boosts its 1-year and 3-year figures more than its 10-year figure, or vice versa.
How many funds are considered for this ranking?
The cache-based path pre-computes rankings from a broad daily-refreshed pool; the live fallback path searches all 34 categories and fetches details for up to a capped pool size to keep load times reasonable.
