Reading an ETF Detail Page

This page drills into a single fund from the US ETF Explorer — its live price, a historical chart, headline return statistics, and a returns calculator. Unlike an index, an ETF is directly investable, so the calculator below uses this exact fund's own dividend-adjusted price history — no tracking-ETF proxy needed, because this IS the tracking ETF.

The Key Stats row shows YTD, 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year returns computed from the same chart data shown below it — all price-return figures (the fund's traded price, same as everywhere else on this site), not dividend-adjusted, so they'll read slightly lower than the returns calculator's total-return figure (which does include reinvested dividends). Both numbers answer different questions: the chart shows how the traded price moved, the calculator shows what an actual investment would be worth today.

Frequently asked questions

Why do the Key Stats returns differ from the calculator’s result?

The Key Stats row is computed from the fund’s own traded price history, which does not include dividends. The calculator uses the same fund’s dividend-adjusted price history instead, so its total-return figure is typically a bit higher over multi-year periods, especially for dividend- or bond-focused funds.

Is the chart adjusted for dividends?

No — the chart plots the fund’s traded price (price return only), matching how the price is quoted everywhere else on this site. Only the returns calculator below it uses dividend-adjusted (total return) data.

Is this ETF a Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC)?

US-domiciled ETFs are classified as a PFIC by the US Internal Revenue Service only for US tax residents, which triggers extra IRS filing requirements for that group. Indian tax residents who are not US persons are not subject to PFIC rules, though standard Indian capital-gains tax on foreign assets, LRS remittance limits, and TCS on outward remittances still apply — see the US ETF Explorer page for the full explanation.
